If You Don’t Dev Web, You Won’t Be Dev’ing Very Much Longer

Unless you’re developing huge/large scale applications for a successful company, odds are that statement is completely true for you. With web operating systems popping up left and right on phones, netbooks and probably regular desktops soon, web development has become an essential skill. In my opinion this isn’t too much of a bad thing.

It seems java is well equipped to do this currently with things like JNLP and Webstart, although languages like PHP and other server side languages, allow for creation of some pretty big web “applications.”
The growing popularity of google documents and other web office software is a sign of how many applications are changing their platform from an operating system to a browser. On the developer side, the palm mojo sdk is a great example of how web programming languages have become essential for even mobile programming, as far as I know, the Palm Mojo SDK uses javascript, HTML, and CSS.

This was just a realization/interpretation of mine, but what do you thing about the rise of web operating systems.? Leave me some comments letting me know.
